Binghamton Senators News Release

BINGHAMTON - The Binghamton Senators will be at Mirella's Italian Restaurant, located at 585 Main Street, Johnson City, on Tuesday, December 14th between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. serving as waiters for a spaghetti dinner to benefit the Broome County Toy Drive.

Dinner will be served by the Senators for a discounted price of only $4.99 provided each patron brings a new, unwrapped toy. Patrons are encouraged to generously tip the B-Sens wait staff for the outstanding service they are guaranteed to receive. All toys and tips collected at the dinner will be donated to Broome County Toy Drive.

"The only way we can reach 2,000 kids is through a community-wide effort and we are pleased to have the Senators joining the effort," said Angelo Martino, president of the Broome County Toy Drive.

The Broome County Toy Drive is run through a joint effort of the Binghamton, Johnson City, Endicott and Vestal police departments and provided more than 2,000 children with new toys last year.

"The Senators are always eager to help out in the community, especially around the holiday season," said Tom Mitchell, executive vice president of operations of the Binghamton Senators. "Hopefully the guys are as good of waiters as they were painters."

In early November, the B-Sens gathered for another holiday season fundraiser at The Clay Ground in Vestal to paint clay plates that were sold following an auction that concluded on Nov. 27. Proceeds totalling $3,946.00 from the auction were donated to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Central New York.

Radio station 99.1 WAAL organized the dinner and will be broadcasting live from the restaurant.
