The 16-game curse against Philadelphia is finally lifted with a 4-3 win at Wachovia Center Friday night. HERSHEY rallied with two goals in the third period for the win.

Philadelphia opened the scoring just 15 seconds into the first period when Patrick Sharp took a pass from Mark Murphy and put it off the post and into the goal past Peter Budaj. The Phantoms would enjoy a 1-0 lead until Carl Corazzini scored a power play tally at the 9:26 mark from Dean Arsene. The goal tied the game at one, which was also the score at first intermission. Philly outshot the BEARS in the first period 12-11.

The Phantoms opened the scoring in the second period with a goal from Ryan Ready at the 5:25 mark. Mathieu Darche tied the game at 2-2 at the 14:39 mark of the second with help from Marek Svatos and Eric Perrin, but Philly would respond less than a minute later with a goal from Ben Stafford at 15:20. HERSHEY outshot the Phantoms 17-6 in the second but still trailed 3-2 after 40 minutes.

HERSHEY would lead a thrilling comeback with a two goal third period. Ryan Steeves tipped in a Chris Bala pass at the 3:47 mark of the third period to tie the game at 3-3 before Carl Corazzini scored on an Eric Perrin rebound at 7:46. The BEARS would hang on for the first win against Philadelphia since April, 2003. Corazzini was named the game's number one star for his two goals.

The BEARS now return home for nine of the next ten games, beginning with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers on Saturday night. Face-off is set for 7:00 p.m. with the club's annual Teddy Bear Toss set for when HERSHEY scores its first goal. Fans are encouraged to bring teddy bears to the game to throw onto the ice when the BEARS strike for the first time against Bridgeport. HERSHEY is also at home Sunday against the Lowell Lock Monsters at 5:00 p.m.
