Lowell, MA - The Lowell Lock Monsters have announced Athletic Trainer Teri LaSalle has resigned her position effective immediately. Carolina Hurricanes Trainer Pete Friesen will serve as interim Athletic Trainer at this weekend's contests, until Chris Stewart joins the Lock Monsters staff full time on Monday.

LaSalle became the American Hockey League's first female head trainer when she was hired by the Lock Monster in August, 2003. A native of New York, LaSalle spent seven years in the East Coast Hockey League before assuming her role with the Lock Monsters. She will take on a new position as Athletic Trainer with the New England Center for Athletes in Providence, Rhode Island.

"We thank Teri for all of her hard work with the Lock Monsters during her tenure here," said team president Brian Martin. "She was a great role model for women in sports, and we wish her the best of luck in her new endeavor."

Chris Stewart joins the Lock Monsters from the Johnstown Chiefs of the East Coast Hockey League. Stewart has served with the Chiefs since the 1996-97 season. Prior to his tenure with the chiefs, Stewart was employed by Western Pennsylvania Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation. Stewart will report to the Lock Monsters on Monday, following Johnstown's weekend series.

The Lock Monsters head south to take on the Norfolk Admirals in back to back games this weekend (Friday, 7:30 pm & Saturday, 7:30 pm). The team travels from Norfolk to Hershey for a Sunday evening contest (5:00 pm), then returns to Lowell for Atlantic Division games next weekend. All of the Lock Monsters road contests can be heard live on the internet at www.lockmonsters.com , and on WCAP AM 980.
