Grigsby Shines In Legends Win

Derick Grigsby snapped a four game losing with six strong innings, leading the Lexington Legends to a 7-2 win. The victory was Grigsby's first since April 15th. The Marshall, Texas native allowed just two runs on three hits and struck out a career high nine batters.

The Legends offense also returned. Lexington pounded out 10, including three by Edwin Maysonet. Ervin Alcantara counted a 431 foot home run to centerfield among his two hits. Brock Koman doubled and drove in two runs.

Josh Anderson got the Legends started in the bottom half of the first with an infield single and a stolen base. Maysonet singled in Anderson to give the Legends a 1-0 lead. The Bombers added two runs in the second inning. The first came on Alcantara's blast. Koman doubled and scored on Kevin Davidson's single to right.

Kannapolis sliced the Legends lead to one in the top of the fourth inning. Micah Shnurstein led off with a solo home run to left field. Former University of Kentucky star, Seth Morris' ground out scored David Cook, who walked.

The Legends put the game away with a 3-run, fifth inning. Maysonet singled in Ozzie Fernando. Josh Anderson reached on a fielder's choice and scored on Scott Robinson's sacrifice fly. A walk issued to Brock Koman forced in Maysonet. Lexington added an unearned run in the seventh. Beau Hearod reached on a two base error by Seth Morris. Hearod advanced to third on a ground out and scored on Koman's Sacrifice fly.

Lexington will seek their second straight win Thursday night. Matt Albers will face Brian Miller. First pitch is set for 7:05, the Summit Mortgage Pre-game Show begins at 6:50 on Sports Radio 1300, WLXG.
