
Conroy\'s Home Run, Four RBI\'s Headline Captains Win

Lakewood, NJâ Designated hitter Mike Conroy homered and drove in four runs Wednesday night, leading the Lake County Captains to a 9-7 victory over the Lakewood BlueClaws at FirstEnergy Park.
Conroy went 3-5 on the night. He had an RBI fielder's choice in the first inning, an RBI triple in the fifth, a solo home run in the seventh, and a run-scoring single in the ninth. The triple was his seventh, tying him for the SAL lead, and the homer was his second of the season.
Sean Smith (6-2) started for the Captains and went six strong innings, allowing just three hits and two runs.
The Captains (26-26) built a 9-3 lead before the BlueClaws (24-26) rallied for four runs in the ninth against Nelson Hiraldo. Jim Ed Warden came in to record the final two outs for his first save.
Ricardo Rojas was 4-5 with four singles for the Captains. Brandon Pinckney, who entered the game as the SAL's leading hitter at .374, went 3-6 with an RBI.
The Captains will play game two against the BlueClaws on Thursday afternoon at 12:05.
