AUSTIN, Texas - For the second consecutive game, the Grand Rapids Griffins surrendered a goal in the final minutes of the third period, as they suffered at 2-0 loss to the Texas Stars at the Cedar Park Center on Thursday. Despite the loss, Thomas McCollum made 30 saves in a remarkable outing in net for the Griffins.

Grand Rapids (1-2-0-0) denied all six of the Stars' power play attempts, before surrendering the first goal of the game at 18:27 of the third period. Warren Peters entered the Griffins' zone on the left wing side, and unleashed a slap shot that kicked out to the stick of Sergei Korostin, who chipped in the rebound from the top of the goal crease.

For a man-advantage, Grand Rapids pulled McCollum in the final minute of regulation. With an extra attacker in the offensive zone, the Griffins nearly tied the game when Francis Pare barely missed on a rebound attempt from close range.

Texas finalized the score at 2-0 when former Griffin Aaron Gagnon intercepted a pass at the Griffins' blue line and scored on an empty net breakaway.

Rookie netminder Matt Climie recorded 25 saves in his shutout win for the Stars (3-1-0-1).

The Griffins continue their Texas road swing with a back-to-back set against the San Antonio Rampage this weekend. Game time is slated for 8:00 p.m. EDT on Saturday, and 4:00 p.m. EDT on Sunday at the AT&T Center.

Three Stars: 1. TEX Climie (25 saves, shutout); 2. TEX Lukowich; 3. GR McCollum (30 saves).
