Syracuse's John-Ford Griffin homered twice and drove in three, powering the Chiefs to a 9-5 win over the Tides Sunday night from Harbor Park.

Griffin slugged a two-run home run in the 1st and a solo shot in the 9th, helping the Chiefs pick up their fifth win in six tries against the Tides this year. The 27-year-old outfielder also added a 6th inning double to pace the Chiefs' 14-hit attack.

Norfolk tied its season-high with 15 hits in the contest, but the Tides also left 12 men on base in the game. Eider Torres and Mike Cervenak each had three hits apiece, with Cervenak driving home two runs.

Tike Redman, J.R. House, Jason Dubois and Jon Knott each added two hits in the contest, while Norfolk equalled a season-high with five stolen bases in the game.

With his two base hits, Redman increased his season-high hit streak to 13 games, over which the 30-year-old outfielder is hitting .333 (19-for-57) with a home run and seven RBI.

Craig Anderson (1-2) took the loss, yielding five runs - four earned - on nine hits in 6.1 innings. Anderson struck out a season-high seven while walking one.

Justin James (3-2) earned the win in relief for Syracuse with a scoreless inning of relief. He was one of five Chiefs' relievers in the contest who combined to allow two unearned runs in four innings of relief. Blane Neal recorded the final two outs to earn his 8th save.

The Tides and Chiefs will meet in game three of the four-game series on Monday night, with right-hander Andy Mitchell (5-2, 3.74) set to take the hill for Norfolk against Victor Zambrano (2-1, 8.13). First pitch is slated for 7:15, with a fireworks extravaganza set to take place after the conclusion of the game.
