Lexington Legends News Release
Three Greenville pitchers combined to shut out the Lexington Legends on five hits, and the Drive won the opener of a three-game series 9-0 at Applebee's Park Saturday night.
Greenville scored a run in the top of the first inning and added three more in the fourth. A double by Ryan Lavarnway, a single by Will Middlebrooks and another double by Kade Keowen produced two runs, and Ty Weeden singled Keowen home to give Greenville a 4-0 lead.
The Drive added another run in the fourth to make it 5-0, and then put the game away when Lavarnway hit his 20th home run of the year with two men on in the sixth. Lavarnway had three hits and four RBI in the game. The Drive scored their final run in the top of the ninth. Greenville starter Stolmy Pimentel (10-7) got the win. Kyle Greenwalt (8-13) was the starting and losing pitcher for Lexington.
