Jersey Shore BlueClaws News Release

EASTLAKE, OH - Despite playing well in the first of the two games of the doubleheader, the Lakewood BlueClaws fell in the second game by nine runs to the Lake County Captains by the score of 10-1.

On a spot start, the BlueClaws (31-28) looked to Rob Roth (4-4) to start the game, but he only lasted one inning. In the first inning, Roth allowed five runs on four hits, and a three-run home run by Nate Recknagel did most of the damage.

On the night, the Captains (34-27) belted out 16 hits, and two home runs, the other by Adam Abraham off of Ryan Bergh. Eryk McConnell relieved Roth in the second and went three innings and allowed three runs before Bergh worked the final two and allowed two.

The Captains scored in every inning, five in the first and one more in each of the next five. They did not have to bat in the seventh inning.

For the Captains, Trey Haley started, but could not go the five innings required to pick up the win. He went 4.1 and allowed one run and struck out seven. Instead, Kaimi Mead (5-3) picked up the win as he worked 1.2 innings.

The loss ended the BlueClaws four-game win streak and was a split of the team's doubleheader. The BlueClaws are 5-7 in doubleheaders this season.

The BlueClaws will play their final game of a three-game series with the Captains on Sunday at 1pm. The BlueClaws will look to Heitor Correa (7-7) as their starter and he will be opposed by TJ McFarland (8-4).
