Greenville, S.C. - Brandon Howlett drove in four runs while the Drive exploded for eight runs in the sixth inning en route to a 15-3 thrashing of Asheville Sunday afternoon at Fluor Field.

With the win, Greenville won the series, 5-1.

The Drive scored in six-straight innings: the second through the seventh.

For the day, Greenville combined for 17 hits-a new game team-high-and five walks. The 15 runs also ties a season-high. Howlett went 2-for-three with four runs scored and two walks to go along with the four RBI. Cam Cannon compiled a game-high four hits, all singles. He also drove in two. Six Drive hitters had multi-hit efforts: Cannon, 4; Devlin Granberg and Tyreque Reed, 3; Howlett, Tyler Dearden and Sogard, 2. Granberg drove in three. He compiled eight during the six-game series. Reed singled in a run to extend his RBI streak to nine.

Brayan Bello earned his fifth win on the year. The right-hander allowed one run over 5.1 innings on four hits and no walks. He fanned nine Tourists.

R.J. Freure took the loss after relenting five runs over 3.1 innings.

Greenville got ahead to an early lead, 1-0, in the second inning. With one out, Howlett launched a 1-0 pitch to right-center field that traveled 410 ft.

An inning later, the Drive added to their lead. Alan Marrero drew a one out walk and advanced to second on a bunt single by Nick Sogard. Cannon followed with a RBI single to right. The next batter, Tyler Esplin, grounded a ball to second for an out and RBI, giving Greenville a 3-0 advantage.

The runs kept coming for the Drive in the fourth. Howlett began the inning with a walk and got to third on a double by Howlett. Granberg followed with a line drive two-run single to left.

Greenville score for the fourth straight inning in the fifth frame. With two out, Howlett and Tyler Dearden were both hit-by-pitch. Granberg then walked to load the bases. The next batter, Dom D'Allessandro grounded a ball to third base. The third baseman's throw was wide of the bag for an error, allowing Howlett to score. The Drive led, 6-0.

Asheville got on the board in the top of the sixth inning on a Matt Barefoot two-run homer.

The Drive exploded for eight runs in the sixth inning. The first eight batters reached and all scored in the frame. Six players compiled RBI: Reed, one-run single; Howlett, three-run triple; Dearden, one-run double; D'Allessandro, one-run double; Alan Marrero, RBI groundout; and Cannon; one-run single.

The Tourists added one in the seventh inning on an Alex McKenna solo shot.

Granberg tallied one more RBI in the single to extend the Dive's lead, 15-3, in the seventh inning.

After an off-day Monday, the Drive will travel to Winston-Salem to take on the Dash in a six-game series beginning Tuesday at 7:00 pm.
