Green Bay Rockers News Release

The Bullfrogs struck first in the first inning and didn't look back on Friday, defeating the Mallards 4-1 in Madison in the final game of a three game series.

In his Bullfrogs debut, the Mallards had no answer for Green Bay's starting pitcher, Taylor Black (1-0). The Mallards tallied just three hits off of Black. He gave up one earned run, struck out four and walked none in five innings of work.

A two out rally in the first frame opened the scoring. Justin Seager singled and scored on a Ryan McCauley double to left-center.

Green Bay held its lead until the fourth, when Madison's John Welborn crushed a solo home run over the short porch in right field of Warner Park tied the game at 1-1.

The 'Frogs didn't wait long to retake the lead. In the fifth, Green Bay scored an unearned run when Kyle Sill came in to score on a Tom Verdi error. This was one of four errors charged to Verdi in his Mallards debut on Friday night.

Jordan Bischel's squad tacked on insurance runs in the seventh and eighth. Jason McMurray singled and scored on a Nick Stein sacrifice fly in the seventh frame. In the eighth, McMurray doubled in Taylor Johnson, making the score the eventual final, 4-1.

In his first appearance since being drafted in the 13th round on Tuesday, Elliot Waterman earned a two-inning save. It was his second save of the season.

Green Bay returns home on Saturday to take on the LaCrosse Loggers at Joannes Stadium. Join us for College Night! Students with a valid ID get $2 off Leinie Fan Deck tickets.
