BATTLE CREEK, MI - A late 9th inning rally from the Wisconsin Woodchucks was not enough, as the Bombers prevailed in the series opener 8-7.

Starting pitcher Casey Mulholland (Ole Miss) threw 3 1/3 scoreless frames, and Tom Marra (Holy Cross) was excellent in his place. Tom threw 4 2/3 innings giving up just one base hit.

Offensively, the Bombers got out to an 3-0 lead after 4 innings as they scored single runs in the 1st, 2nd, and 4th inning. They dropped a four spot in the bottom of the 7th inning with RBI base hits from Daniel Rockett, Kyle Figgins, and Tom Albert that seemed to break the game wide open.

Wisconsin would not go away however, as they scored six runs in the top of the ninth inning and had the tying run on second base. Pat Borlik was able to escape the jam to finish the game for the Bombers.

The final game of this two game set is tomorrow evening with an early start time of 5:05 ET. Dylan Rheault (Central Michigan) is on the hill.

The Battle Creek Bombers are members of the prestigious Northwoods League that has more teams, plays more games, and draws more fans than any other summer collegiate baseball league in North America.
