July 10, 2009 - South Atlantic League (SAL1)
Greensboro Grasshoppers News Release
GREENSBORO, NC-In case you are wondering what Hoppin' Fun is all about, join the Hoppers at the ballpark on Friday, July 10th for Cow Appreciation Night and experience the essence of a Hoppin' good time.
"Cow Appreciation Night is a prime example of the wacky entertainment minor league baseball can provide its fans," said President and General Manager Donald Moore. "It is just another way we put our own twist on baseball to deliver a Hoppin' Fun atmosphere to all our fans."
The Grasshoppers and Chick-fil-a have teamed up to host a variety of events that everyone in the family can enjoy.
The evening will begin with an on-field cow parade, highlighted by a milking contest between two Grasshoppers' players. The festivities present a large array of farm hands, including a live cow from Gerringer Farms, the Chick-fil-a mascot, and fans dressed in bovine attire
The Chick-fil-a cow will be around to sign autographs in the plaza, and issue free coupons to fans sporting their best cow costumes. The first thousand fans will also receive a cow crown courtesy of Chick-fil-a.
Fans will have the chance to catch up with our friends from the farm in the Red Dog Farm petting zoo. Kids will be able to visit with a baby calf, mini-horse, and full-grown cow alongside many cats and dogs outside the plaza gate.
Also in attendance will be the Zooperstars, bringing crazy animals, silly names, and funny stuff to NewBridge Bank Park Friday evening. Join characters such as Cow Ripken Jr., Clammy Sosa, Alex Frogriguez, and many more when they add fun and flavor to the already jam-packed evening at the Grasshoppers' downtown stadium.
And don't forget, fireworks follow every night game, so get to the park early to enjoy the show and hang around late to witness the post game fireworks extravaganza.
The Grasshoppers finished the 2008 season with an attendance of 440,787 and have welcomed over 1,715,000 fans to NewBridge Bank Park, drawing over 400,000 fans in each of its first four years at the new downtown ballpark. The team is the proud recipient of both the South Atlantic League's Club Merit Award and the General Manager of the Year Award for the past four years.
Tickets and group packages are now on sale for the 2009 season. For more information, please contact the Grasshoppers office at 336.268.BALL or visit www.gsohoppers.com.
