Murilo Gouvea struck out 10 batters and allowed only one hit in four innings of relief as the Lexington Legends held on for a 3-2 win over the Greenville Drive Saturday night in Greenville, South Carolina.

Greenville took a 1-0 lead in the second inning on a single by Michael Almanzar and a triple by David Renfroe, but the Legends moved in front for good in the third. Bryce Lane led off with a single, and Emilio King followed with his sixth home run of the year to give the Legends a 2-1 advantage.

The Legends extended their lead to 3-1 in the fourth inning on a double by Ben Heath and a single by Tyler Burnett.

The score remained 3-1 until the bottom of the ninth. Leadoff hitter Christian Vazquez reached first on an error by shortstop Ben Orloff. Drew Hedman singled, sending Vazquez to third, from where he scored on a wild pitch as Hedman advanced to second. Gouvea then struck out the next three hitters to end the game.

Starter Ruben Alaniz (6-9) pitched the first five innings to get the win. Greenville starter Keith Couch (5-4) was the losing pitcher.

The two teams play again Sunday at 4 p.m.
