
Gorillas face off against San Angelo Thursday

Thursday night at the Bank One Jungle the Gorillas are set to play the number two team in the Southwest Division, San Angelo Saints. Currently the Gorillas are leading the Saints by 5 points and hoping the make it 7. This will be the fifth and final regular season meeting between the two teams. The series is tied at two games apiece with both teams winning their home games.
San Angelo had recently got to within one point of the Gorillas, however Amarillo capitalized on back to back wins against Tulsa and Wichita.
In the 3-2 victory over Tulsa on Saturday night Scott Wray, Tyler Butler, and Henry Kuster all netted one goal a piece for the Gorillas. Kuster goal came short handed in the middle of the 3rd period to give the Gorillas the lead, while Shawn Degagne saved 46 of 48 shots on goal which helped to produce his 20th win of the season.
On Sunday at Wichita, Kansas, Scott Wray, Mark DeSantis, and Dave Rattray all chipped in for one goal apiece, while Jeff Marshall contributed two assist in their 3-2 win over the Thunder.
San Angelo Saints are making a serious threat to the number one position and should make for worthy opponent. Therefore, making this Thursday night in Amarillo an exciting night for hockey.
The night is sponsored by Johnny Carino's Country Italian restaurant and fans can purchase tickets for five dollars if they show a ticket stub from a Friday or Saturday night game either at the Gorillas Hockey Office or the Civic Center Box Office.
The game will be broadcast on Hot 99.7 FM, a division of Amigo Broadcasting, begin with Gorillas game night at 6:40 p.m. followed by the puck drop a little after 7:00 p.m. The game can be viewed on CHLTV, fans can go to www.chltv.com for pricing and system requirements.
Tickets for Thursday's game can be purchased at the Gorillas Office located at 1934 Civic Circle; the Civic Center Box Office; Panhandle Tickets Outlet located at Randy's Music Mart, WT Event Center and United Supermarkets. Tickets can also be purchased by phone at 378-3096 or on-line at www.panhandletickets.com.
Immediately after the game, the Gorillas will head for New Mexico to face- off against the Scorpions. The game can be heard live on Hot 99.7 FM, beginning with the pre-game show at 7:40 p.m. following by the game itself at 8 p.m. Both San Angelo and New Mexico games can be heard live on the world wide web at www.amarillogorillas.com.
