CHL Names Bauer/Nike Player of the Week, Vaughn Goaltender of the Week

The Central Hockey League has today named New Mexico center Mike Oliveira the Bauer/Nike CHL Player of the Week and San Angelo netminder Scott Reid as the Vaughn CHL Goaltender of the Week for Week 15 of the CHL season. Northern Conference All-Star Oliveira led the Scorpions to three consecutive wins the past week, while Southern Conference All-Star Reid allowed a total of two goals while winning his 18th and 19th games of the season.
Oliveira scored a goal in each game in victories over Tulsa, Lubbock and Bossier-Shreveport, and added four assists in the three contests. Named as a starter for the Northern Conference in the 2004 Dodge CHL All-Star game, he also recorded a goal and two assists in the North's 12-9 win over the South. Oliveira's seven-point week moves him into a sixth place tie with Scorpions' teammate Chris Richards in the CHL scoring race with 55 points on the season. Oliveira earns Bauer/Nike CHL Player of the Week honors for the second time this season, also recognized in Week 7.
San Angelo's Reid has enjoyed an outstanding season to date for the 24-13-5 Saints, and added a pair of wins and a shutout to his season totals over the past week. He made 32 saves in a 3-2 win over Lubbock January 23rd, then turned aside all 31 Corpus Christi shots in a 5-0 victory the following night. Named to the Southern Conference All-Star team, Reid ranks in the top 10 in several CHL goaltending categories with 19 wins, a goals against average of 2.50, and a save percentage of 92.9. Reid also claimed Vaughn CHL Goaltender of the Week in Week 1 of the CHL season.
