Springfield, Missouri - In his third Texas League start, Sod Poodles starting pitcher MacKenzie Gore delivered 5.1 scoreless innings as Amarillo beat the Springfield Cardinals in the rubber game of their three-game series, 2-1.

Cardinals starter Angel Rondon also tossed five scoreless innings to begin the ballgame.

In the top of the sixth, Amarillo scratched across a pair of runs. Rondon exited the game after Owen Miller's two-out single in a scoreless game. Right-hander Ronnie Williams entered out of Springfield's bullpen. Williams then allowed an infield single to Hudson Potts and a walk to Brad Zunica to load the bases.

In the bottom of the sixth, Gore allowed a walk and single to put two runners on-base with one out. Right-hander Carlos Belen entered from Amarillo's bullpen and retired two straight hitters to escape further trouble. Belen then tossed a scoreless frame in the seventh.

With the victory, the Sod Poodles improved to a record of 19-15 in the second half and overall mark of 53-49. It marks the first time the Sod Poodles have been four games above .500 this season.
