Tulsa Drillers News Release

MIDLAND, TX - In his first start away from ONEOK Field on Saturday night, Tulsa Drillers lefthander Rob Zastryzny held the Midland RockHounds to just three hits in seven scoreless innings. The Drillers offense gave the lefty plenty of runs, as Tulsa blanked Midland 9-0.

Zastryzny entered Saturday night with a 1.54 ERA but a 0-2 record after two starts with Tulsa. The former major leaguer was strong all night, striking out nine, including punching out four of the final six men he faced. The strong offensive support allowed Zastryzny to pick up his first victory of the year.

Tulsa got off to a quick start, scoring two in the top of the first. Drew Avans singled, and promptly stole second before Omar Estevez drew a walk. Zach McKinstry plated Avans on an RBI single, while allowing Estevez to get to third. Angelo Mora then hit an RBI groundout, giving Tulsa a 2-0 lead.

The bulk of the damage came in a six-run fourth inning for Tulsa. Mora led the inning off with a walk, stole second and advanced to third on a wild pitch. Cody Thomas knocked Mora in with a single, and advanced to third on a Jared Walker single. Errol Robinson added an RBI single and Avans followed with a walk, loading the bases. This brought an end to Midland starter Matt Milburn's night.

Seth Martinez replaced Milburn out of the Midland pen, and was greeted by Esteves lining a bases-clearing double down the left field line, plating all three runners. McKinstry capped the big inning with an RBI single, giving Tulsa an 8-0 advantage.

Robinson, Avans and Estevez all walked to load the bases in the sixth. McKinstry gave Tulsa a 9-0 lead with an RBI groundout.

The Drillers bullpen took it the rest of the way and preserved the shutout. Michael Boyle threw a scoreless eighth while Ryan Moseley set down all three men he faced in the ninth.
