Gordon, Bastardo Lead Lookouts Past Suns

Jacksonville, Fla. - Dee Gordon homered and scored both runs while starting pitcher Alberto Bastardo struck out 11 over six innings leading the Chattanooga Lookouts (21-28) to a 2-1 win over the Jacksonville Suns (30-18) in front of 7,453 Saturday night at the Baseball Grounds.

Bastardo (5-3) picked up the winning decision after allowing one run and four hits with 11 strikeouts over six innings. Suns starter Alex Sanabia (5-1) fell in his first losing decision of the season, allowing two runs and three hits over seven innings. Jon Huber (3) saved his second game in the series with a one-hit ninth inning.

Chattanooga opened the scoring in the first inning against Sanabia. Dee Gordon doubled and moved to third on a sacrifice bunt. Corey Smith next drove in Gordon with a sacrifice fly to center, opening a 1-0 Lookouts lead.

The Lookouts extended the lead in the top of the sixth inning when Gordon hit a line drive into the right field seats, his second of the season, opening a 2-0 lead.

Jacksonville got on the board in the bottom of the sixth inning. Ozzie Martinez walked and moved to second base on a wild pitch. Vinny Rottino later doubled to right-centerfield to bring in Martinez for a 2-1 score.

Chattanooga right-hander Mario Alvarez will face Jacksonville RH Robert Bono, who will be promoted from Class A-Advanced Jupiter for the Sunday night start. Pre-Memorial Day fireworks will follow the game! Tickets are available through the Suns box office at 358-2846 or by visiting jaxsuns.com.
