El Paso Chihuahuas News Release

The El Paso Chihuahuas scored three runs in the bottom of the ninth inning Thursday to come back and beat the Fresno Grizzlies 6-5. It was El Paso's sixth walk-off win of the season.

Down 1-0 in the second inning, Jake Goebbert launched a two-run home run over the right-center field fence, his fourth homer of the season and first of the year at Southwest University Park. The 2-1 lead held until the fifth, when Fresno scored four times in an eight-batter inning. The rally included a three-run home run by left fielder Robbie Grossman.

Trailing 5-3 entering the ninth, Jason Hagerty's RBI single got El Paso within one run. Goebbert's walk then loaded the bases for the Chihuahuas. Rocky Gale followed that up with an RBI infield single off pitcher Jose Veras' back. The bases stayed loaded for Benji Gonzalez, whose game-ending single landed in front of Fresno right fielder L.J. Hoes.

Gonzalez went 3-for-4 with two doubles and three RBIs in the win. Mark Appel, the first overall pick in the 2013 amateur draft, allowed three runs in 5.2 innings in his second Triple-A start.
