MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Miami Marlins announced a pair of transactions that impact their Double-A affiliate Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp roster prior to tonight's game against the Montgomery Biscuits at Montgomery Riverwalk Stadium at 3:05 p.m. eastern.

Right-handed pitcher Merandy Gonzalez has been optioned from the Miami Marlins to Jacksonville. Gonzalez pitched in six games for the Marlins in the majors, going 2-0 with a 4.85 ERA, striking out 11 batters in his 13 innings of work. Gonzalez, a member of the Marlins 40-man roster, started the season with the Jumbo Shrimp, going 0-1 with a 4.50 ERA in his two starts for Jacksonville. Gonzalez will start for the Jumbo Shrimp tomorrow night against the Biscuits in Montgomery.

In a corresponding move, left-handed relief pitcher James Buckelew has been released by the Marlins organization. Buckelew pitched in two games for Jacksonville, with no wins or losses and a 2.25 ERA in his four innings of work. Buckelew started the season with Triple-A New Orleans, where he was 1-1 with a 3.38 ERA in six appearances for the Baby Cakes.

The Jumbo Shrimp roster stands at 25 active players, and a revised roster is attached.

The Jumbo Shrimp continue their series in Montgomery at 3:05 p.m. Sunday, when Jacksonville right-hander Pablo Lopez (0-0) is scheduled to face Biscuits right-hander J.D. Martin (4-2). The Jumbo Shrimp return home Thursday for Budweiser Thirsty Thursday, with $1 12-oz. and $2 24-oz. beers at select locations, plus $1 sodas at the main concession stands. For National Police Week, Jacksonville Sheriff Mike Williams will throw a ceremonial first pitch, and police vehicles and trucks will be on display at the ballpark. The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office Bigs with Badges program will attend the game courtesy of Florida Blue.
