
Goldeyes Re-Sign Experienced Left-Hander

WINNIPEG, MB - The Winnipeg Goldeyes signed left-handed pitcher Zack Dodson prior to Monday's game at Gary SouthShore.
Dodson returns to the Goldeyes after going a combined 2-4 with a 5.89 ERA in eight starts for Monterrey and Durango of the Mexican League.
Last year, Dodson was 5-7 with a 5.14 ERA for the Goldeyes in 20 starts and one relief appearance. Dodson logged 124.1 innings and finished 11th in the American Association with 98 strikeouts. The San Antonio, Texas native allowed four or fewer earned runs in 14 of his 20 starts, and walked three batters or less in 17 of them. Dodson was the winning pitcher in Game Four of the American Association Championship Series versus Wichita on September 18th. The 28-year-old worked two scoreless innings in the 16th and 17th before the Goldeyes won 4-3 to even the best-of-five series.
Dodson was drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the fourth round in 2009 out of Medina Valley High School in Castroville, Texas. The 6-foot-2, 190-pound left-hander is now in his 10th season of professional baseball, and rejoins the Goldeyes with a lifetime 40-57 career record and a 4.34 ERA in 166 games, 158 of them as a starting pitcher. Dodson reached the Double-A level three consecutive years from 2013-15.
