Goldeyes Make Moves at Deadline

August 25, 2010 - Northern League (NL)
Winnipeg Goldeyes News Release

Winnipeg Goldeyes manager Rick Forney announced this morning a number of roster moves that happened just prior to last night's Northern League roster deadline at 11:59 p.m.

The Goldeyes have acquired right-handed pitcher Chris Kelly from the Lake County Fielders for a player to be named later and infielder Price Kendall has been activated from the disabled list. Meanwhile, right-handed pitcher Sean Gregory and infielder Zach Williams have been released.

Kelly, 28, has no record and a 3.18 ERA in five and two-thirds innings over four appearances with Lake County this season. A draft pick of the Tampa Bay Devil Rays in 2004, Kelly reached Double-A last season in the Cincinnati Reds organization with Carolina Mudcats of the Southern League.

Kendall was put on the disabled list after breaking the middle finger on his right hand on August 2. At the time of the injury, the rookie was hitting .336 with three home runs and 17 RBI in 36 games. He was also on a nine-game hitting streak.

The Goldeyes can still add anyone from their disabled list or inactive list to their active roster this season, as long as that player has been on the list for the required amount of time.

Winnipeg has 22 players on its active roster, including 12 pitchers and 10 position players.

The Goldeyes finish a three-game set with the Rockford RiverHawks tonight at Canwest Park in the rubber match of the series. Game time is 6 p.m. and great seats are available by visiting any Ticketmaster location or by calling 780-3333.
