FARGO, ND - The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks defeated the Winnipeg Goldeyes 5-4 at Newman Outdoor Field Wednesday evening.

Fargo-Moorhead (4-2) opened the scoring in the bottom of the third inning when Dillon Thomas singled to right field driving in Evan Alexander to give the RedHawks a 1-0 lead. The next batter, Correlle Prime, hit a two-run home run to left field to make it 3-0, before Sam Dexter drove in two more runs with a double to left field that brought home John Silviano and Leobaldo Pina.

The Goldeyes (2-4) finally broke through in the top of the seventh inning when Hidekel Gonzalez belted his second home run of the season with Najee Gaskins aboard, cutting the RedHawks' lead to 5-2.

Winnipeg would pull within two runs of the lead in the following frame as Max Murphy singled to right field to knock in Brynn Martinez.

In the top of the ninth inning, the Goldeyes made it 5-4 in favour of Fargo-Moorhead when Gaskins came home on Andrew Shaps' ground out to second base. The game would end one batter later with the tying run left on base.

Tyler Grauer (1-0) picked up the win, allowing three runs on six hits over seven innings. Reid Birlingmair saved his second game of the season in what was a nervous ninth for the RedHawks.

Luis Ramirez (1-1) was charged with the loss. He gave up five runs on seven hits in three innings of work.

Winnipeg's 30th home opener is set for Friday at Shaw Park against the Lake Country DockHounds featuring a magnet schedule giveaway and post-game fireworks. Lefty Travis Seabrooke (0-1, 16.62 ERA) will start for the Goldeyes while Lake Country has yet to announce their probable starter.
