Kane County Cougars News Release

GENEVA, Ill. - In a great battle between starting pitchers Jake Dahlberg and Tyler Beardsley, the Chicago Dogs emerged victorious with a 2-0 win over the Kane County Cougars on Thursday night at Northwestern Medicine Field.

In his second straight quality start, Cougars' (2-4) righty Tyler Beardsley (0-1) pitched a gem. Over seven innings of work, Beardsley allowed just two runs on four hits with seven strikeouts against two walks. The Dogs (4-2) scored the only two runs of the ballgame in the top of the sixth inning. Nick Heath led off the frame with a triple to dead center that one-hopped the wall. Two batters later, Josh Altmann belted a two-run homer over the left field wall to put Chicago up 2-0.

While Beardsley pitched a great game, Dahlberg (1-1) earned the win. The Chicago southpaw pitched seven scoreless innings with six strikeouts while scattering seven hits. After Dahlberg departed, Aiden McIntyre, Jonathan Chesire and Bryan Warzek combined to hold the Cougars off the board in the final two innings.

The Cougars will round out the homestand with three games against the Sioux City Explorers. Highlights of the upcoming series include a Fireworks Friday and Halfway to Halloween Night on Saturday. For tickets and more information call 630-232-8811 or visit kccougars.com/tickets.
