Evansville Otters News Release

Princeton native Jeff Goldbach hit a pair of homeruns, the second one a grand slam, lifting the Otters to a 12-7 win over the Chillicothe Paints.

The Paints got on the board in the top of the first inning on a homerun by John Ramistella to put Chillicothe up 2-0. The Otters responded immediately in the bottom of the inning with Goldbach's first homer of the night to make it 2-2.

Evansville scored two more in the second and one in the fourth to take a 5-2 lead into the top of the sixth. However, Chillicothe came back as Mike Spry hit a three-run homer to tie the game at 5-5. The Paints took a 6-5 lead on a sacrifice fly in the seventh inning.

The Otters once again wasted no time in coming back in the bottom of the inning. After loading the bases with one out, Trask Munoz walked to force in a run and tie it at 6-6. John Coker was then hit by a pitch to force in another run and give Evansville the lead. Frank Scott walked in a third run to put the Otters up 8-6. After a pop out, Goldbach hit his second homer, a grand slam, to give Evansville a 12-6 win.

Dustin Bolton (1-0) picked up the win in relief for Evansville. Luke Palmer (2-5) lost it for Chillicothe.

Tomorrow's game two of the series features one of the best pitching matchups in the league as Ben Foster (6-2, 2.23) takes the mound for the Otters against John Martinez (10-1, 2.86) for the Paints. Game time is 7:05 p.m.
