Richmond Roosters News Release

Chillicothe, Ohio - Richmond won 4-1 on Wednesday, taking two out of three against the Chillicothe Paints. Tony Casoli had another great pitching performance to help lead the Roosters to their second straight series win.

The Rooster continued to score runs early in the game by getting a run in the first. Josh Hollingsworth singled, stole second base then scored on a triple by Tony Sanguinetti. It was the second triple in two days for Sanguinetti who now leads the team. Richmond added a pair of runs in the fourth to increase the lead to 3-0. Joe Rhomberg and Justus Kimbrough each had RBI hits in the inning.

The Paints got an unearned run in the sixth, but Mike Bidwell trumped it in the seventh with solo homer to left field that made it a 4-1 ballgame. Chillicothe failed to get any more runs off Casoli as Hunter Davis (2) closed it out the ninth to get the save. Casoli (7-2) pitched eight innings to get the win for Richmond, giving up only the one unearned run and scattering seven hits. Perry Cunningham (4-3) took the loss for the Paints.

Richmond (23-28) will return home Thursday to begin a six-game home stand that will see Florence and Washington come to town. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m. (Indiana time) on Thursday as Matt Schweitzer (3-4, 3.02 ERA) will take the mound for Richmond in an attempt to break the Frontier League all-time wins record with 27.
