Goaltender Demichiel Recalled to AHL

North Charleston, SC - The South Carolina Stingrays and Head Coach Cail MacLean announced today that goaltender Jared DeMichiel has been called up to the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League.

DeMichiel, 25, dressed in 25 games with the Stingrays this season going 14-9-0 with a .914 save percentage and ranks ninth in the ECHL with a 2.64 goals-against average. The Avon, CT native appeared in two games with the Bears earlier this season going 1-0-0 with a 3.86 GAA and .867 save percentage. Currently in his first professional season, DeMichiel spent four years at the Rochester Institute of Technology going 41-19-2 with a 2.36 goals-against average and a .908 save percentage in 66 games. He had a career-best 27-10-1 record with a 2.09 GAA and a .921 save percentage during his senior season while leading the Tigers to the 2010 NCAA Frozen Four for the first time in school history. During the tournament, the 6-foot-1, 180-pound netminder earned the NCAA East Region Most Outstanding Player award.
