
Marty the Marmot Earns First Call-Up for NHL

Victoria, BC - The Victoria Salmon Kings, proud affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks and Manitoba Moose, announced today that Marty the Marmot will participate in the Canucks' 2011 Superskills Competition.
The 2011 edition of the Canucks Superskills event will be held at Rogers Arena this Sunday, February 27th at noon. Marty will join FIN, the Canucks' mascot, as well as mascots from the Vancouver Giants, San Jose Sharks, Colorado Avalanche and more, as they will be on hand to greet all patrons and hand out a team photo card to the first 10,000 fans in attendance. Additionally, fans will have the chance to get autographs and photographs with their favorite mascot during the event.
Marty and his mascot friends will also take part in their own skills challenge as they play a round of musical chairs on the ice!
The Canucks Superskills Competition features Canucks players going head-to-head in fun skills challenges such as the hardest shot, breakaway relay, fastest skater contest and accuracy shooting challenge. A Canucks alumni game will also be played at noon featuring former Vancouver stars such as Dave Babych and Garry Valk.
Proceeds from the event support the Canucks for Kids Fund and the NHLPA Goals & Dreams Fund. Tickets are $10 and are available via phone at 604-280-4400, online through www.ticketmaster.com, or at the Rogers Arena Box Office.
