Colorado Mammoth News Release
DENVER - The Colorado Mammoth announced today that the team has acquired the rights to goaltender Matt Vinc from the Orlando Titans. As part of a National Lacrosse League dispersal draft of the Titans, Colorado also landed Jarett Park, Chad Thompson, Marc Burton and Bryan Barrett.
Vinc, a four-year starter for the Titans, is widely regarded as one of the best net minders in the NLL. His 10-5 record last season was accompanied by a .810 save percentage while Vinc stopped an incredible 609 shots - all league bests. The five-year veteran has amassed 2204 saves in 66 regular season games. The 6'1", 225lb. Canisius alum has also appeared in seven playoff contests, sporting a 4-3 record and an additional 230 saves. The 2010 NLL Goaltender Of The Year has four career games with 50 or more saves.
"We're very excited to be adding a goalie like Matt to our roster," commented Mammoth President and General Manager Steve Govett. "He's arguably the best in the league and should be a huge asset for the Mammoth in coming years."
With the 11th overall selection in the draft, Colorado picked transition player Jarett Park. The 6'1", 200lb. Syracuse grad has totaled 55 points (22g, 33a) in five regular NLL seasons while scooping up 514 loose balls. The two-sport athlete for the Orange led them to a pair of NCAA Championships (2002 and 2004 ). "Jarret missed almost half of the season last year due to a shoulder injury, but we know he has a great deal of talent and can come in here and contribute to our club," Govett said.
The third round selection for Colorado (21st overall) was transition player Chad Thompson. The 6'0", 200lb., five-year NLL veteran has posted 64 points (33g, 31a) in 49 regular season contests. Thompson has also vacuumed up 131 career loose balls in regular season action with an additional 11 in postseason action.
With their final selections of the draft, the Mammoth acquired Marc Burton and Bryan Barrett. In two professional seasons, Burton has seen limited action for the Titans. The 5'll" Adelphi University product totaled 32 points (19g, 13a) during his senior collegiate campaign.
