Kansas City Mavericks News Release

INDEPENDENCE, Mo. - The Kansas City Mavericks have signed goalie Ben Halford, announced Tuesday by head coach John-Scott Dickson.

Halford, 25, started the season with the Mavs and remained on the roster until Mason McDonald was activated from injured reserve. He was released last Friday.

The signing of the 6-foot-3, 200-pound goalie and Princeton University alum comes on the heels of Nick Schneider being recalled to AHL Stockton. Halford, who went through camp with the Mavericks, appeared in one preseason game, stopping 14 of 16 pucks that he saw.

The Mavericks return to action this weekend as they play host to the Wichita Thunder on Friday and Utah Grizzlies Saturday. Tickets for the games are still on sale.

The latter contest features a postgame Fifth Line Club auction where fans can bid on players to gain exclusive access to the team and special events. The program, formerly known as Adopt-A-Mav, runs for the full season. More information on the program is available via the team's website.
