Go-Go Suffer Back-To-Back Losses against the Indiana Mad Ants

The Capital City Go-Go were defeated in back-to-back games this week against the Indiana Mad Ants.

In the first game of the series on Tuesday, January 23, the Mad Ants won 122-110. The Go-Go opened the game on a 7-0 run, punctuated by a fastbreak layup from Washington Wizards assignee Johnny Davis. After the first quarter, the Go-Go led 33-19, fueled by a 71.4 percent shooting percentage to open the game. However, the Mad Ants would make their run in the second quarter, taking a 54-52 lead into halftime. The Mad Ants retained their lead for the remainder of the game.

The Go-Go were led by a 30-point performance from Washington Wizards two-way player Jared Butler. Fellow Wizards two-way player Jules Bernard was also one of five players to score in double figures with 16 points of his own.

In the second game of the back-to-back series on Wednesday, January 24, the Go-Go fell short in overtime, 110-106. The Mad Ants jumped out to an early lead, ending the first quarter ahead 24-18. With 5:25 left in the first half, the Go-Go took a 37-36 lead on an and-one basket by Jules Bernard. Capital City would go into the half with a 50-45 advantage over the Mad Ants.

The two teams exchanged baskets for most of the third quarter before the Mad Ants made a run to tie the game at 65. The Go-Go would regain the lead and end the third quarter up 74-70. The Mad Ants made a series of runs in the fourth quarter before eventually tying the game at 94 on a Kendall Brown three with 3:27 to play. After regulation, the two teams headed into overtime tied at 103. Isaiah Wong delivered the game-winning points for the Mad Ants after a layup and a free throw.

Center Jake Stephens had a near-double-double performance for the Go-Go with 17 points and 9 rebounds. Jules Bernard had a game-high 29 points and 7 rebounds for the Go-Go as well.

The Go-Go will now return home to DC where they will face the Osceola Magic at Entertainment & Sports Arena on Saturday, January 27, at 7 PM. Tickets for the game are still available via Ticketmaster.
