Today: The Gnats, who have won four straight games for the first time in 2011, look to make it five in a row against the Greenville Drive, South Atlantic League affiliate of the Boston Red Sox. With a win tonight, the Gnats would sweep the four-game series from the Drive. This is game four of a nine game home stand. The Gnats current four-game winning streak is the longest active winning streak in the SAL.

Yesterday: Sam Honeck led the Gnats to a 6-2 win over the Greenville Drive. Honeck was a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles, a home run, a walk, a run scored and three RBI. Starter Chase Huchingson delivered four shutout innings. He and reliever Gonzalez Germen, who pitched three innings, each struck out seven batters while Josh Edgin, who worked the final two innings for his second save, fanned two more batters. The 16 strikeouts were a new season-high for the Gnats in a nine-inning game.

Now Pitching: RHP Greg Peavey will make his third professional start. In his last outing, he gave up four runs on six hits and a walk with one strikeout in five innings in the Gnats' 7-5 loss at Hickory last Wednesday. Peavey left the bullpen a 5-4 lead in the game. The Mets selected Peavey in the 6th round of the 2010 draft out of Oregon State. In 2010 with Oregon State, Peavey was an All-Pac-10 Honorable Mention and a two-time conference Player of the Week. Peavey had been drafted twice before: in the 24th round of the 2007 draft out of Hudson's Bay High School by the New York Yankees and in the 32nd round of the 2009 draft by the Houston Astros. In high school, he was named Washington's Class 3A baseball Player of the Year in 2007. Peavey has had national-level success even before high school, helping pitch the Hazel Dell Metro Little League team to the Little League World Series in 2000, and the Hazel Dell Metro teams that won Babe Ruth Championships in 2001 and 2002. The Gnats are 1-1 when Peavey throws and have supported him with 6.5 runs per game.

Hotter Honeck: After his 3-for-3 day yesterday, Sam Honeck is hitting an even .500 (19 H/38 AB) for the year, tops in the South Atlantic League. He also leads the league in on base percentage (.558), doubles (7), hits (19) and is second in slugging percentage (.763), third in total bases (29), and tied for third in extra-base hits (8). His 11 RBI are tied for fourth. He has hit safely in his last seven games, going 14-28 (.500) with six doubles, a home run and nine RBI, four walks and seven strikeouts. Honeck has two doubles in each of the last two games. He is the only Gnat to drive in three runs in a game, and he's done it twice.

Scoring Winning! On the Gnats four-game win streak they have outscored their opponents 22-11. The Gants have scored six runs in three of these four games and four runs in the other. While losing five games in a row before their current winning streak, Savannah scored as many as four runs just once and four times in those five games were held to 1 run or fewer.

About Yesterday: At 3:03, it was the longest nine-inning Gnats game of the year...the 13 runners left on base by Greenville were the most by any Gnats opponent.

Vs. Greenville: The Gnats are 3-0 against the Drive in 2011. Of the 20 meetings between the two teams, 12 games are scheduled for Savannah and eight in Greenville. In 2010, the Gnats were 4-6 against the Drive in the regular season. Greenville, who won the second half, swept Savannah, the First-Half Champions, 2-0 in the first round of the SAL Playoffs.
