KANNAPOLIS, N.C. (April 18, 2011) - Starting pitcher Jake Petricka of the Kannapolis Intimidators, Class A Affiliate of the Chicago White Sox, has been named South Atlantic League Pitcher of the Week for April 7-17, 2011. Petricka went 1-0 with an earned run average of 0.00 after two shutout starts to begin the 2011 season. In 11.0 innings, he has struck out 16 batters while allowing four hits and two walks.

Petricka did not earn a decision despite six hitless innings on the mound against the Lakewood BlueClaws on April 10. The Intimidators went on to win the game, 2-0, in 16 innings. In his second start on April 15 in the team's home opener, the right-hander allowed only five batters to reach base, picking up a win over the Hickory Crawdads.

Coming into the 2011 season, Baseball America rated Petricka as the No. 7 prospect in the White Sox organization. The second round pick from the 2010 draft spent last season between Advanced Rookie Bristol and Kannapolis, going a combined 2-5 with a 3.05 ERA in 17 games (8 starts).

The Kannapolis Intimidators (7-3) conclude their series against the Hickory Crawdads tonight at 7:05 p.m. at Fieldcrest Cannon Stadium. The Intimidators will then face the West Virginia Power at home Tuesday through Saturday in a five-game series. For tickets, please call the box office at (704) 932-3267 or visit the team's website at www.IntimidatorsBaseball.com .
