Edwar Cabrera allowed two hits in seven-plus innings, and the Asheville Tourists defeated the Lexington Legends 4-1 Monday night in Asheville to earn a split of their four-game series. After the Legends had pounded out 33 hits and scored 31 runs to win Saturday and Sunday, Cabrera was in command in the series finale. After the Legends missed a bases-loaded scoring opportunity in the first, Cabrera retired 18 straight batters before Jhonny Medrano led off the eighth with a single. The game was scoreless until the fifth, when the Tourists broke through against Legends starter Mike Foltynewicz. Tyler Massey led off with a double, and with one out, scored on a double by Brett Tanos.

Asheville added two more runs in the bottom of the sixth. A single by Bryce Massanari and a double by Tanos put runners at second and third with nobody out. The runners held as Foltynewicz retired Dustin Garneau on a grounder to third and struck out Mark Tracy, but Massey lined a single to left to score two runs.

The Legends didn't score until the eighth. After Medrano singled, he stole second and went to third on a throwing error by the catcher, Garneau. Bruce Kern relieved Cabrera at that point, and Roberto Pena's bouncer to the right of the mound scored Medrano as Kern made the play to first base. Asheville added a run in the bottom of the eighth on walk to Tanos, an infield out and a two-out double by Massey.

Cabrera (2-1) struck out eight and walked one to get the victory. Foltynewicz (0-3) took the loss. The Legends continue their road trip with a five-game series in Savannah. Game time Tuesday night is 7:05 p.m.
