Altoona Curve News Release

HARRISBURG - Tyler Glasnow spun five scoreless innings with six strikeouts in his Double-A debut on Saturday night in the Curve's, 4-1, loss to the Harrisburg Senators. For a second straight night, errors plagued the Curve as they committed three errors in the eighth inning that led to four runs (three unearned) to flip a, 1-0 lead, into a, 4-1, deficit.

Glasnow struck out two in the first inning to settle in nicely but then walked one in the second and two more in the third before walking his fourth batter of the game in the fourth inning. He worked around his walks, however, thanks to some strikeouts and some slick defensive plays by Sebastian Valle (on a foul out in the third) and Gift Ngoepe (on a double play in the second).

The Curve offense was held hitless by MiLB veteran Paolo Espino through five innings but broke up his no-hit bid in the sixth when Keon Broxton grabbed his second double of the series. Broxton was stranded in the sixth but the Curve were able to score first again for the third time in the series in the seventh.

Stetson Allie clubbed his first home run of the season in the seventh with one down that gave the Curve the lead.

Jhondaniel Medina pitched a shutout seventh before turning it over to John Kuchno in the eighth. Kuchno was the beneficiary of some unfortunate luck as the first groundball he induced off the bat of Delta Cleary, Jr. ate up Dan Gamache at second. Cleary reached via the error and that ignited the 'Sens rally.

Tony Renda followed with a ball hit deep in the hole between first and second that Gamache was able to get to but had no play to make. Matt Skole, last night's hero, snuck a double inside the line at third that scored Cleary from first and tied the game at one. Kevin Keyes came to the plate and lifted a ball to right that went in and out of the glove of right fielder Stetson Allie for the second error of the inning. Pinch hitter Stephen Perez then hit a ball towards first that got through Josh Bell for the inning's third error and it allowed both Skole and Keyes to score to put Harrisburg up, 4-1.

Bell singled to lead off the ninth but the Curve never really threatened after that.

The Curve (1-2) aim to swipe the 1:30 p.m. series finale from Harrisburg (2-1) on Sunday at Metro Bank Park. RHP Chad Kuhl, who led all Pirates minor league pitchers in 2014 in wins with 13, takes the ball for the Curve in the series finale on Sunday afternoon. He'll meet former Curve hurler turned Harrisburg Senator in RHP Tim Alderson in the finale.

Airtime on ESPN Radio 1430, WVAM is scheduled for 1:15 p.m.
