Gladiators Sign Niagara Pair

The Gwinnett Gladiators announced today that they have agreed to terms with former Niagara University forwards Randy Harris and Justin Cross.

Harris completed his final year of eligibility for Niagara University last year after a respiratory situation sidelined the 5-foot-10, 185-pound forward for three seasons. After receiving a medical hardship exemption from the NCAA, Harris had his most successful collegiate season last year.

The Grand Island, New York native set career highs in scoring during his senior year of eligibility last season, ranking fourth in scoring with the Purple Eagles as he posted 14 goals and 22 assists for 36 points in 35 games. His 3 game winning goals also shared 3rd on the team last year.

Harris finished his collegiate career at Niagara University ranked 11th all-time in goals scored and 12th in assists. In four seasons, he racked compiled 36 goals and 46 assists for 82 points and also cracked the top 10 in games played in a Niagara career appearing in 128 contests.

Cross finished the 2005-06 season with Niagara University ranked 7th on the team in scoring with 8 goals and 21 assists for 29 points. His 29 points shared 10th in scoring in the College Hockey American (CHA) Conference last season. Cross also finished his collegiate career ranking 5th all time at Niagara in games played appearing in 138 games.

The Camarillo, California native represented Niagara University at the NCAA Frozen Four Skills Challenge in Milwaukee, Wis., on April 7th. Cross helped the East squad to victory as he scored the tying goal in a sudden death shootout that the East eventually won.

Harris and Cross helped the Purple Eagles capture the CHA regular season championship as Niagara finished the 2005-06 season with a 20-15-1 record. Bemidji State defeated Niagara 4-2 in the CHA Tournament Final on March 12th.
