DULUTH, Ga. - The Gladiators (6-8-0-0) will celebrate their 12th annual Thanksgiving Night Food Drive at The Arena at Gwinnett Center tonight as they take on the South Carolina Stingrays (4-9-0-4) for the second of four straight games. Fans who bring a non-perishable food item to The Arena tonight will receive a Premium Level Ticket for half-price ($11.50)!
Last time out, the Gladiators got back to their winning ways by defeating the Stingrays, 4-1. Mark Guggenberger stopped 23 of the 24 shots he faced, and the captain, Sean Berkstresser, tallied a goal and an assist. 10 Gladiators in all picked up points in the effort.
Glads Notes:
Crack Shots: Casey Pierro-Zabotel (8-for-22) and Marshall Everson (4-for-11) are tied for the second best shooting percentage in the ECHL, at 36.4%. Only Brett Flemming of Reading (3-of-8; 37.5%) is better.
In the Box: The Gladiators are the second most penalized team in the league, averaging 20.93 PIM per game. They are also shorthanded an average of 5.14 times per game, second only to the Missouri Mavericks (5.64) in the league.
Gladiators Ahoy: Four players currently on the Gladiators roster have been assigned from their AHL affiliate, the Portland Pirates- Nathan Burns, Dyson Stevenson, Dan O'Donoghue, and James Melindy - and three more - Joel Hanley, Jordon Southorn, and Greg Carey - were assigned to Gwinnett and have since been recalled to their AHL affiliate, the Portland Pirates.
Milestones: Joe Stejskal is two games away from his 200th professional game ... Defenseman Eric Springer is eight games away from his 100th pro game ... New Gladiator Geoff Paukovich is eight games away from his 300th ECHL game ... Casey Pierro-Zabotel scored his 75 ECHL goal in his 350th career professional game on Tuesday ... Sean Berkstresser also scored his 75th professional goal on Tuesday ... Garry Nunn is four goals away from career goal #50, and three assists away from #100 ... Coyotes prospect Dan O'Donoghue notched his first professional goal on Tuesday
Streaks: Casey Pierro-Zabotel has scored a goal in three straight games ... Garry Nunn has tallied a point in 11 of the 14 games he's played in, and seven of the last eight ...
