Gladiators Fall to Everblades 7-3

ESTERO, FL - The Gwinnett Gladiators gave up four goals in the third period and could not hang on in a 7-3 loss to the Florida Everblades on Saturday night at the Germain Arena. Gwinnett falls to 22-24-2-5 on the season in the loss while the Everblades improve to 30-24-0-3 on the season. Gwinnett is back in action on Tuesday in Greenville against the Road Warriors at 7:05 p.m.

Gwinnett jumped out to a 1-0 lead on Dustin Cameron's 5th goal of the season, which gives him points in six of his past seven games with the Gladiators. Cameron found a loose puck along the goal line and flipped it past Everblades netminder Jaroslav Janus for the tally. Andy Brandt collected a helper on the goal for Gwinnett at 13:08 of the first period.

Drew Larman answered for Florida at 14:22 of the first period sliding into the slot and beating Gladiators goaltender Chris Carrozzi along the ice for the goal. Evgeny Timkin added an assist on the goal for the Everblades.

Danick Paquette regained the lead for the Gladiators with 2:54 left in the first period. Paquette was parked along the goal line and found a rebound given up by Janus and flipped the puck past the netminder for the tally. Cody Brookwell and Akim Aliu had the assists on Paquette's 10th goal of the season.

In the second, the Gladiators and Everblades continued to exchange goals, with Florida tying the game at two 3:08 into the period on Matt Beca's 14th goal of the season.

Gwinnett regained the lead for the third time in the game on Cody Brookwell's second goal of the season. Brookwell picked up a rebound in the right wing circle and ripped the puck past Janus for the marker. John Scott Dickson and Tim Filangieri had the assists on the goal for Gwinnett at 14:37 of the period.

The Everblades didn't go away, tying the game at three on their first power play goal of the contest. Mathieu Roy took a rink wide pass and ripped a one-time slapshot past Carrozzi with just 40 second left in the second. Bobby Raymond and Ian McDonald had the helpers on the Everblades goal.

Florida put the game away in the third with four goals in the final period. Francis Lemieux gave Florida it's first lead of the game at 4:08 of the third.

Alex Imbeault then pushed the Everblades lead to 5-3 with a power play goal at 5:55 of the final period ripping a slapshot past Carrozzi.

Tony Mosey extended the Everblades lead to 6-3 as he finished a 2-on-1 break and beat a sliding Carrozzi as the Gwinnett netminder could not get a pad on the puck.

Imbeault added his second of the night to round out the scoring with 5:36 left in the contest.

Gwinnett finished scoreless on the power play in the loss while the Everblades capitalized on two of five chances on the man advantage in the win.

The Gladiators are the AA affiliate of the Atlanta Thrashers and play all home games at the 11,355-seat Arena at Gwinnett Center, located just off I-85 on Sugarloaf Parkway in Duluth.
