Georgia Force News Release

FLOWERY BRANCH, GA - Georgia Force WR/LB Derek Lee earned AFL U.S. Army Ironman of the Week for his performance in the Force's dismantling of the Austin Wranglers 61-29 on Sunday, April 9. This marks Lee's first weekly AFL honor in his two year career. Last season, Lee was named AFL Rookie of the Month for May. The win on Sunday improved the Force to 7-4 on the season and to 5-2 in the Southern division.

Lee recorded six receptions for 104 yards and a touchdown through the air and added one rush for six yards on the ground against Austin. He added two tackles and an interception on defense. Lee's interception occurred five minutes into the fourth quarter, when Wranglers' QB John Fitzgerald's pass was deflected and Lee caught the ball off the net. On the ensuing Force possession, Lee scored on a 13-yard strike from QB Matt Nagy to ensure Georgia's 61-29 victory over Austin.

In 11 games, Lee has hauled in 89 catches for 988 yards and 18 touchdowns on offense. He has registered 8.5 tackles, two interceptions, two pass defensed and a fumble recovery on the defensive side of the ball.

The Force will play the Orlando Predators (7-4) on Friday, April 14, at 7:30 p.m. in the TD Waterhouse Centre.
