AFL names players of the week

NEW YORK - Georgia Force WR/DB DEREK LEE, Arizona Rattlers WR/DB RANDY GATEWOOD and Colorado Crush DS RASHAD FLOYD have been named Ironman, Offensive Player and ADT Defensive Player of the Week, respectively, for Week 11 of the 2006 season.

IRONMAN: Lee (6-5, 215, Tennessee Tech), who is in his second AFL season, posted six receptions for 104 yards and one touchdown along with six rushing yards in Georgia's 61-29 Southern Division win at Austin on Sunday. He added 2.0 tackles and one interception on the defensive side of the ball in a victory that brought the Force into a first-place tie with the Wranglers and Orlando Predators.

OFFENSIVE: Gatewood (6-0, 185, UNLV), who is in his 11th AFL season, earns Offensive Player of the Week honors after claiming Ironman of the Week Awards in Weeks 6, 7 and 9. In Arizona's 64-52 Western Division win at Utah on Friday night, he grabbed 13 receptions for 149 yards and a career-high seven touchdowns. Three of his scores came in the fourth quarter and his total of seven tied a single-game Rattlers record.

ADT DEFENSIVE: Floyd (6-0, 180, Portland State), who is in his fifth AFL season, earns the honor for the second straight week. After snagging two interceptions in Week 10, Floyd added three more, all in the Colorado end zone, in the Crush's 73-48 Central Division win at Grand Rapids on Saturday. He added 6.0 total tackles and forced a fumble that was returned 23 yards for a touchdown by teammate WR/DB AHMAD HAWKINS (5-10, 185, Virginia).

Ironman of the Week candidates included: Arizona's Wilson Thomas, Colorado's Ahmad Hawkins, Dallas' Dialleo Burks and Will Pettis, Kansas City's Jerel Myers, Orlando's Jerrian James, Philadelphia's Mike Brown and San Jose's Charles Pauley and James Roe.

Offensive Player of the Week candidates included: Arizona's Sherdrick Bonner, Colorado's John Dutton, Georgia's Matt Nagy, Kansas City's Chris Sanders and Nashville's Aaron Boone.

ADT Defensive Player of the Week candidates included: Arizona's Clarence Lawson, Dallas' Jermaine Jones, Georgia's Nate Coggins, Nashville's Robert Freeman and Monty Montgomery, Philadelphia's Eddie Moten, San Jose's Omarr Smith and Clevan Thomas.
