Oshawa, ON - June 29th, 2010 - Oshawa Generals Head Coach and General Manager Chris DePiero announced today that the team has selected Nicklas Jensen with the 8th overall selection in the 2010 CHL Import Draft.

Jensen, a native of Denmark, played last season with the Herning Blue Fox in the AL-Banking League, the top pro league in Denmark. He registered 12 goals and 26 points in 34 games during the 2009-2010 regular season. He also added 6 goals and 10 points in 10 playoff games.

The Left Winger is regarded as a top prospect in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft. Generals Head Coach and General Manager Chris DePiero feels he will fit right in with the team.

"Nicklas is a big skilled forward with tremendous offensive upside," says DePiero. "He plays the game hard and will join a group of very good young forwards here in Oshawa."

Jensen was hoping to be selected by a team in the OHL prior to the draft.

"It will improve my chances in the NHL draft to play in one of the Canadian junior leagues, as NHL clubs follow closely," says Jensen. "My family on my father's side live in Toronto, so I hope I can come to a club in the area"

Nicklas' father is Dan Jensen who played in the OHL from 1986 through 1989 with the Peterborough Petes and the Guelph Platers. He then went on to have a 16 year professional career in Denmark.

The Generals also hold the 68th overall selection in the import draft.
