Attack Select Defenseman in Import Draft

Owen Sound Attack News Release

The Owen Sound Attack is pleased to announce that with their 58th pick overall in the CHL Import Draft (acquired from Barrie earlier in the day) they have selected 6'4, 205lb defenseman, Richards Berzins of Latvia.

Berzins, who spent the 2009-2010 season with Rigo Dynamo of the Latvian League is a December 19th, 1992 birthdate and is eligible for the 2011 NHL Entry draft.

"Richards will add some much needed depth and size to our blueline," stated Attack General Manager Dale DeGray. "Going forward, we felt this was an area we wanted to address and with our acquisition of Matt Stanisz and Richards, we feel we made a step forward in that regard."

With Roman Berdnikov returning to the team for the 2010-2011 season, this will fill the Attack's Import Player allowance.
