Jackson Generals News Release

JACKSON, TENN. (JULY 3, 2014) - For the second straight season, the Jackson Generals tonight and this Independence Day weekend will be participating in a special program in conjunction with Minor League Baseball by wearing special "Stars & Stripes" caps from New Era Cap Company to help raise awareness and funds for Welcome Back Veterans.

The Generals are one of 113 total Minor League Baseball clubs that will don the special caps on Thursday, July 3 and Friday, July 4, with the hats featuring Jackson's primary logo in white, with a star behind the logo with a color likeness of the American Flag behind it. The limited edition caps will also be available for purchase in the General's Team Store at The Ballpark at Jackson.

Minor League Baseball, in conjunction with its licensing partner Major League Baseball Properties, will donate 100 percent of the proceeds from sales of the hat to Welcome Back Veterans as part of its contributions to the program. Dating back through the 2010 season when the initiative started, Minor League Baseball has contributed annually to the veterans' organization.

"As Minor League Baseball fans gather this Fourth of July weekend to celebrate America's -birthday, we will all take time to honor and thank all the members of our armed forces for their service to our country", said Minor League Baseball President & CEO Pat O'Conner in a press release from MiLB. "The Stars & Stripes cap program is one way we are showing our commitment to our military and an organization whose mission is to provide treatment to our veterans and their families. It's a small token of appreciation for the sacrifices they make every day."

The Generals host the Mobile BayBears tonight at 7:05 p.m. at The Ballpark at Jackson while the Generals will face the Huntsville Stars on the road on Friday, July 4 at Joe Davis Stadium. First pitch for that contest in Huntsville is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
