LAST GAME: The Jackson Generals, the Double-A affiliate of Major League Baseball's Arizona Diamondbacks, stood their ground in an extended stalemate with Pensacola on Monday, getting a late Andy Young home run on their way to a 3-1 victory at The Ballpark at Jackson. Full Recap: JacksonGeneralsBaseball.com.

TODAY'S PITCHING MATCHUP: Right-hander Riley Smith gave Jackson his first scoreless start in his most recent outing, throwing five shutout frames on 82 pitches. Smith and Smokies RHP Tyson Miller last faced each other on April 15, with both taking a no-decision in a 6-2 Smokies win. Miller pitched a quality start last Thursday at Jacksonville, tossing six innings with two runs allowed in a 4-0 series-opening loss.

BE LIKE MIKE: Right-hander Michael Kohn leads the Southern League with a 47.7% strikeout rate and a .081 opponent batting average. He didn't allow an earned run over 11.2 innings in April, striking out 21 with 6 walks and 3 hits. If Kohn is to win SL Relief Pitcher of the Month for April, the Generals' bullpen would contain each of the last two BC Powder (R) Relief Pitchers of the Month, pairing Kohn alongside Kevin Ginkel (August 2018). Those two have the highest swinging strike rate this year in the Southern League at 23%, and Kohn gives up the most opposite field contact (63%).
