Weston Wilson Named Southern League Player of the Month

MARIETTA, GA - The Southern League of Professional Baseball Clubs are proud to announce that Biloxi Shuckers infielder Weston Wilson has been named the Southern League Player of the Month for April. Wilson, 24, is also currently the Southern League's reigning Player of the Week.
After 24 games to start the season with the Shuckers, Wilson currently leads the league in a number of categories including OPS (.971), slugging percentage (.591), runs scored (20), and total bases (52). The High Point, North Carolina native also ranks among the league's best in hits (26, T-5th), home runs (6, 2nd), and RBIs (18, T-2nd).
Wilson also tied for the fifth longest hitting streak in the Southern League following a nine-game stretch (4/19-4/27) in which he hit .455 (15-for-33) with five home runs, 11 runs scored, and 13 RBIs. Across his last 10 games, he is hitting .410 (16-for-39) with 13 runs scored and 16 driven in.
In 36 total games with the Shuckers from 2018-19, Wilson is hitting .276 (37-for-134) with seven home runs, 25 runs scored, and 21 RBIs.
The Milwaukee Brewers selected Wilson in the 17th round of the 2016 MLB Amateur Draft out of Clemson University. This marks the second Player of the Month award of Wilson's career; his first coming in July 2018 while with the Carolina Mudcats in the Class-A Advanced Carolina League.
Of the Southern League's five Player of the Month winners from last year, three have spent on time on a major league roster this season.
