Hoover, AL -Gabriel Noriega's RBI single in the top of the thirteenth inning drove home the game-winning run as the Jackson Generals (20-25, 58-57) conquered the Birmingham Barons (17-28, 57-58), 6-5, in front of 3,033 fans during a thirteen-inning marathon Tuesday night at Regions Park.

The Generals took an early lead in the bottom of the first inning when Scott Savastano doubled to left-field and scored on Chih-Hsien Chiang's single, 1-0.

Birmingham started the bottom of the fourth inning with a double to right-field by Christian Marrero before Generals' starter Andrew Caraway uncorked a wild pitch that allowed Marrero to reach third base. With runners on first and third, Luis Sierra hit a single to center field that allowed Marrero to dash for home and Oester to third base. Ross Wilson's RBI double to left field drove in Oester and advanced Sierra to third base. A three-run homer by Justin Greene towered over the left-field wall and plated Sierra and Oester, 5-0.

Tennessee added one run in the top of the seventh inning when Francisco Martinez hit a double to right field and raced home a on a single to left field by Brandon Bantz, 5-2.

The Generals closed the gap in the bottom of the ninth inning when Rich Poythress singled to right field, was bumped to second on a walk to Martinez and sprinted home on Johermyn Chavez's single to left field. After pinch-runner Brandon Haveman was substituted for Chavez, a ground out by Jake Shaffer permitted Martinez to score and moved Haveman to second base. Pinch-hitter Luis Antonio Jiminez received a walk before Noriega reached on a fielder's choice that resulted in a throwing error by Barons' second basemen Ross Wilson that sent Haveman home and knotted the game, 5-5.

In the top of the thirteenth inning, Haveman knocked a line-drive single to right field, dashed to second on Shaffer's infield single and continued to third on a fly out by Jesus Sucre. A RBI single to center by Noriega plated Haveman for the game-winning run, 6-5.

Moises Hernadez (4-2) earned the victory for the Generals with one hit and one walk in 2.0 scoreless IP. Carraway received a no-decision after the right-hander yielded five earned runs on seven hit and four strikeouts in 4.0 IP.

Brandon Kloess garnered the loss for the Barons after he hurled 4.0 IP with one earned run on 4 hits, 1 walk and 4 strikeouts. Starter Justin Edwards was handed a no-decision after the southpaw tossed 6.2 IP with two earned runs on 5 hits, 2 walks, and 6 strikeouts.

The Barons travel to Chattanooga, TN to begin a five-game road trip Wednesday night at 6:15 p.m. against the Chattanooga Lookouts, Double-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers. Birmingham features right-hander Charlie Shirek (3-5, 3.15) while Chattanooga counters with right-handed pitcher Stephen Fife (1-0, 1.80).
