
Newest General Noriega Comes Through in 13th

Jackson Generals News Release
BIRMINGHAM, AL - In the top of the 13th inning, Gabriel Noriega, just up from Single-A singled in Brandon Haveman with two outs and the Generals comeback to beat Birmingham at Regions Park Tuesday, 6-5. The Generals trailed 5-2 heading to the ninth and scored three runs to force extra innings. The Generals won for the first time when trailing after eight innings, now 1-36. Jackson is now 6-6 in extra inning affairs this season.
General's starter Andrew Carraway left after four innings, giving up five runs on seven hits. Relievers Brian Moran, Stephen Penney, Edward Paredes, Daniel Cooper and Moises Hernandez blanked Birmingham over the next nine frames. Hernandez (4-2) got the victory and pitched two scoreless innings. Brandon Kloess took the loss for Birmingham, giving up the one run on four hits in four relief innings.
Scott Savastano was the only Jackson General with multiple hits, going 2-for-7. Noriega, who had the game winning hit in the 13th, was 1-for-6 in his Double-A debut. Francisco Martinez and Brandon Haveman each scored two runs in the game for the Generals.
Scott Savastano opened the game with a double off the left field wall and then scored on a single from Chih-Hsien Chiang to place Jackson on top 1-0.
The Barons broke out the offense in the bottom of the fourth and scored five runs. After RBI base hits from Luis Sierra and Ross Wilson, Justin Greene smashed a 3-run home run to left, giving Birmingham a 5-1 advantage.
The Generals cut the margin to three runs in the top of the seventh after a two out RBI single from Brandon Bantz scored Francisco Martinez. The Barons led 5-2.
Jackson rallied for three runs in the ninth against Birmingham closer Anthony Carter. Johermyn Chavez and Jake Shaffer collected RBI's and the Brandon Haveman scored on an error by Birmingham second baseman, Ross Wilson. The game was tied 5-5 until the 13th when Noriega drove in Brandon Haveman with two outs for the 6-5 win.
The Generals, after a day off Wednesday return to Pringles Park Thursday night to begin a 10-game homestand, welcoming first the Huntsville Stars for a five-game set. Game time is set for 7:05 pm. RHP Kenn Kasparek (4-3, 4.46) makes the start for the Generals against RHP Cody Scarpetta (8-5, 3.91) for Huntsville.
