Montgomery Biscuits News Release

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Biscuits (29-17) were shutout for just the second time this season, dropping game two of their series against the Jackson Generals (25-20), 5-0, on Thursday night at Riverwalk stadium.

Riley O'Brien (2-2) made his fourth start of the year for the Butter and Blue, and while he worked a scoreless first, the righty ran into trouble in the second, walking Jeffrey Baez with the base loaded after a questionable check swing call on a 2-2 pitch that didn't go the Biscuits way. The base loaded walked was followed up by a two-run single to center field by Daulton Varsho to put Jackson ahead, 3-0.

The Generals would add to their lead in the top of the fourth with a solo homer to right field off the bat of left fielder Ryan Grotjohn, making it 4-0.

The Generals got a fantastic start from their left-hander Bryan Valdez (1-1) who went seven shutout innings, allowing just three hits, one walk, and three strikeouts. Then Robby Scott worked a scoreless eighth before Damien Magnifico recorded the last three outs for the Generals.

Jackson would add their fifth and final run in the sixth on a towering solo homer from the catcher Daulton Varsho.

The Biscuits will try to rebound on Friday night at Riverwalk Stadium when Sam McWilliams (3-1) takes on Riley Smith (3-3) at 6:35 PM CT when it will be Ladies Night presented by At Home and MAX Fireworks.

The series will also feature Greenbow Night featuring a Bobblehead Giveaway presented by Capital Trailways and MAX Fireworks on Saturday, May 25; and Lil' Crumbs Dress Like a Player Snellzilla Pillow Giveaway on Sunday, May 26.
