Providence Bruins News Release

The Providence Bruins and Manchester Monarchs faced off on a snowy Saturday night in New Hampshire, with the Bruins taking a hard-fought 2-1 decision. With the win, the Bruins improved their record to 12-8-5-0 (29 points), pulling them into a tie for second place in the Atlantic Division, just two points behind the division-leading Hartford Wolf Pack. The Bruins are unbeaten (2-0-1-0) in their last three games.

Bruin left wing Mike Gellard notched the game-winning goal on a third period power play goal. Both of his goals this season have been game-winning power play goals. Center Andre Savage tallied his fifth goal of the year, moving him within one point of sixth place on the franchise career scoring list, with 59-83-142 totals in 146 games.

Goaltender Tim Thomas stopped 29 shots and is 6-4-3 on the season.

The P-Bruins played the game without forwards Ted Donato and Pat Leahy, who were recalled by the Boston Bruins on Friday. Both played on Saturday night in Boston, with Leahy making his NHL debut.
